3 Malhas is a long-term social documentary photographic project about fishing with trammel nets (pesca com redes de tresmalho) practiced in the coastal area of Costa de Caparica, Almada, District of Setúbal, Portugal by the fishermen of the "Companha de Poseidon" (formerly “Companha de Neptuno”). It results from several photo sessions that I started in 2021, not only on board the fishing vessel of the Companion of Poseidon, but also on firm land. This project was born out of a strong and lasting friendship built with these brave fishermen, along the Caparica Xávega project. My photographic approach is chronicle, since I consider (as in Caparica Xávega) the most appropriate type of narrative for this long-term project. The experience accumulated in the sessions I have held at Arte Xávega, since 2017, helped me a lot building a body of work focused on the essentials.
